- Prepare high quality calculation and design packages needed to construct substation and transmission line facilities using CAD-based tools, based on design standards.
- The Engineer in the Transmission Civil Design organization will be responsible for designing and analyzing new or modified existing substation structures. The Engineer will be expected to perform reinforced concrete design and structural steel analysis/design on an as needed basis. The Engineer will work with other engineers to help in their development and knowledge transfer.
- Coordinate and communicate with other departments associated with Civil Design.
- Interact with manufacturers, vendors, and Southern Company committee members to resolve standards and material issues.
- Provide support to Constructions Services, Substation Construction, Transmission Line Construction, Field Services, Project Management and Substation Maintenance.
- Perform site visits for projects, including pre-construction meetings, during construction and post-construction. Some overnight travel may be required.
- Participate in design review meetings.
- Provide work direction and oversight for designers and drafters.
