Position Summary

The Lead Medical Assistant serves as both a clinical team leader and a trusted operational partner.

This role is responsible for supporting patient flow, medication-related processes, prior authorizations, charge capture accuracy, and Medical Assistant training while ensuring clinic standards are consistently upheld.

Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Operations

  • Prepare patients, exam rooms, supplies, and documentation for daily visits
  • Room patients and support providers within scope of practice
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
  • Support efficient clinic flow and patient throughput

Medication & Authorization Management

  • Assist with medication reconciliation and refill requests
  • Support prior authorization workflows
  • Coordinate medication-related documentation and follow-up
  • Monitor medication inventory and supply controls

Billing & Documentation Support

  • Support accurate charge capture and billing documentation
  • Identify and escalate documentation discrepancies
  • Work collaboratively with providers and billing teams to ensure accuracy
  • Maintain attention to detail in all patient records and workflows

Team Leadership

  • Lead MA huddles and daily workflow coordination
  • Train and mentor Medical Assistants
  • Reinforce clinic standards and best practices
  • Escalate clinical concerns appropriately to nursing and provider leadership

QualificationsRequired

  • Medical Assistant certification or credential as required by California regulations
  • Current BLS Certification
  • Minimum 2 years of Medical Assistant experience
  • Strong knowledge of medication workflows and clinical documentation
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Preferred

  • Leadership or Lead MA experience
  • Experience with prior authorizations
  • Experience working with eClinicalWorks (eCW)
  • Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Urgent Care, or Primary Care experience
  • Familiarity with billing-support workflows and charge capture processes
