Job Description
The Front Desk Receptionist for Mercer's physical therapy clinic, Mercer Physical Therapy, will be responsible for administrative activities of the clinic under the supervision of the Clinic Director. Responsibilities include greeting and signing in/out patients/clients, answering clinic phone(s), collecting payments, maintaining cleanliness of the front office area, assisting in cleaning of equipment and stocking patient care areas, and scheduling patients for initial and follow-up appointments.
The Front Desk Receptionist will assist in verifying insurance benefits and authorizations, and other tasks as delegated by the Clinic Director or Department Chair. For more information on Mercer Physical Therapy, see (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below)..
Responsibilities
- Greet and sign in/out patients/clients
- Answer clinic phone(s)
- Collect payments
- Maintain cleanliness of front office area
- Assist in cleaning of equipment and stocking patient care areas
- Schedule patients for initial and follow-up appointments
- Assist in verifying insurance benefits and authorizations
- Perform tasks as delegated by the Clinic Director or Department Chair
- Maintain patient confidentiality (HIPAA compliance)
Schedule
Hours:
5:30-7:15pm, Monday-Thursday;
Fridays PRN. Occasional blocks of 3-4 hours during the workday, depending on availability.

Pay
$10.00-$15.00 per hour. Individuals with prior medical front office experience may be eligible for higher pay range.
Qualifications
Open only to those awarded as Federal Work Study by Financial Planning Office.
- High School Diploma/GED
- Strong customer service skills
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
- Computer literate (Excel, Microsoft Office, internet)
- Ability to operate printer, scanner, copier, fax, digital camera, and download information to an electronic medical record
- Ability to gain a working knowledge of the electronic medical record system used in the clinic
- Ability to gain a working knowledge of insurance verification and authorization processes
- Ability to clean equipment and organize laundry into treatment rooms daily
- Ability to maintain a tidy front office environment
Important Note
In adherence to the Immigration Control Act of 1986, all student employees must complete an Employment Eligibility Verification Form (I-9) and present documentation verifying citizenship or permanent residency. The required documents include either a valid US Passport, certificate of US citizenship, alien registration card with photograph, or two of the following: state driver's license, validated student , original social security card, birth certificate.
