Job Title: Forklift Operator
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Forklift Operator to join our production team, assisting with various tasks related to production and forklift operations. The role involves a combination of machine operation, forklift driving, and general maintenance duties.
Responsibilities
- Set up machines on the production line by selecting programs and initiating operations.
- Stack pallets of bagged salt using a forklift.
- Operate the bagging machine to fill and seal bags.
- Shovel salt outdoors when necessary to manage spills.
- Load and unload flatbed trucks with products using a forklift.
- Bag products efficiently and effectively.
- Maintain cleanliness of the work area daily.
- Complete production paperwork accurately, reporting progress during and at the end of shifts.
- Keep precise records of production data.
Essential Skills
- At least 3 years of experience with sit-down propane forklifts, proficient in loading/unloading trailers and navigating outdoor/rough environments.
- Manufacturing or production experience with a strong understanding of production metrics.
- Ability to work outdoors year-round in various weather conditions.
- Capability to lift up to 50 lbs, consistently handling bags of salt throughout shifts.
- Requirement to wear steel-toed boots/shoes.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Forklift certification is preferred.
- Experience as a heavy equipment operator.
- Experience in loading flatbed trucks efficiently.

Work Environment
The work is conducted above ground at a production site and shipping yard, outdoors in various elements. The dress code includes jeans or shorts, a t-shirt without offensive language or logos, and steel-toed boots or shoes. A uniform will be provided upon direct hire. Work hours are Monday to Friday from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, with staggered lunch breaks. Overtime is available on Saturdays, especially during the busy winter months.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Detroit, MI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.
