We are looking for a passionate Senior Manager, Grants and Donor Engagement to join our Marketing Team and make a difference. As the Senior Manager, Grants and Donor Engagement, you will help advance BBYO’s mission by strengthening the systems, stories, and communications that support philanthropic giving. This role is centered on writing and coordinating seven-figure foundation grants, helping frontline fundraisers stay on top of regional grant deadlines, drafting strategic messages from CEO to major donors, and supporting donor engagement efforts. The ideal candidate is an excellent writer, natural storyteller, and highly organized project manager who can turn BBYO’s impact into clear, compelling communications that inspire generosity and deepen donor relationships.
SHAPING THE FUTURE FOR TEENS AND YOURSELF
As a Senior Manager, Grants and Donor Engagement, a typical day will include:
MAJOR GRANTS AND GRANT COORDINATION (60%)
In partnership with the CEO, members of the leadership team, and BBYO’s fundraising professionals, write, coordinate, and oversee major grants, including:
Managing the full lifecycle of foundation grants, including proposal preparation, submission, reporting, and renewal tracking
Drafting, editing, and submitting grant proposals and reports that align with funder guidelines and organizational priorities
Reviewing, editing, and strengthening key regional grant submissions as needed in partnership with fundraisers, helping ensure they are clear, compelling, and submitted on deadline
Coordinating with program, finance, and other staff to gather required data, budgets, testimonials, and narratives for grant applications and reports
Tracking and updating grant calendars, deadlines, and deliverables to ensure compliance and on-time submissions
Maintaining accurate, up-to-date records in the grants database and CRM, ensuring data integrity across the full portfolio
Managing the grants inbox, monitoring incoming requests and updates, and routing information to the appropriate team members
Sending reminders to fundraisers and internal partners to ensure regional grants, reports, and supporting materials stay on track
STRATEGIC COMMUNICATION AND DONOR ENGAGEMENT (40%)
Manage BBYO’s direct mail program, including planning, drafting, coordinating approvals, tracking timelines, and partnering with internal and external stakeholders to successfully execute five initiatives per year
Draft key communications from CEO to major donors, ensuring messages are timely, polished, mission-driven, and aligned with BBYO’s voice
Support donor engagement efforts, helping prepare materials, messaging, briefings, and follow-up communications that inspire giving
Support on-the-ground donor engagement and communications efforts around BBYO International Convention, including helping prepare materials, coordinating donor touchpoints, and facilitating communications
Partner with colleagues to identify and elevate stories of impact that can be used across grants, donor communications, direct mail, and stewardship materials
ESSENTIAL SKILLS FOR MAKING A LASTING IMPACT
Our team has an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for innovation to drive positive change. The Senior Manager, Grants and Donor Engagement will need the following skills to succeed in this role:
Abilities: Able to manage operational complexity with accuracy, discretion, and minimal oversight in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment
Experience: 3–5 years of relevant experience in grants management, fundraising, non-profit development, or donor communications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, marketing, or related area of study. Masters Degree is preferred but not required
Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM
Excellent writer and storyteller who can craft compelling grant proposals, donor messages, direct mail copy, and stewardship communications
Highly organized and systems-oriented project manager who can track deadlines, send reminders, manage competing priorities, and keep multiple projects moving forward
Comfortable using data, program outcomes, donor insights, and constituent stories to shape persuasive communications and demonstrate impact
Collaborative partner who can gather information from colleagues, work with senior organizational leaders, and support fundraisers with clarity and follow-through
REQUIREMENTS
Attend all major BBYO events including Staff Conference, and International Convention each year, as well as team retreats and other events as assigned.
