ABOUT THE POSITION:

Bryant is looking for a Accounting/Payroll Specialist to join its entrepreneurial and highly collaborative team in South Florida. The Accounting/Payroll Specialist will partner with the Accounting Manager and Chief Financial Officer to develop and maintain a strong control environment driving automation and process improvement to deliver efficiency and effectiveness throughout the financial and operational areas of the companies.

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

The Accounting/Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing payroll, including preparation and filing of quarterly and annual payroll tax returns for four companies. The incumbent is also responsible for the benefits administration and serves as liaison between employees and benefit providers. This position is also responsible for identifying and implementing opportunities for process improvements and develop and update documentation regarding accounting processes and procedures.

The ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and pay close attention to details is essential to the success of this individual.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Process weekly, bi-weekly and monthly payroll for four companies including employee expense reimbursements.
  • Administer and reconcile employee benefits including health, dental, vision, and gap.
  • Reconcile and initiate payments for payroll taxes and garnishments on a timely basis according to the payroll cycle.
  • Prepare and file quarterly tax returns and payments on a timely basis including 940, 941 and RT6.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll and benefits.
  • Track job codes and prepares entries to ensure proper job profitability calculations.
  • Responsible for year-end compliance and reporting including W-2s and 1095Cs.
  • Reconcile and enter credit card transactions ensuring timely and accurate codification and recording in the accounting records.
  • Record technicians time by job code to ensure time is allocated to the proper jobs and accuracy of job profitability.
  • Reconciles multiple balance sheet accounts.
  • Assist in monthly book close process to ensure that all necessary accruals are identified and recorded each month.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to handle employee and payroll records in strict confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently with proven problem-solving skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interface with external service providers and all levels of management in a professional manner
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize deliverables with an orientation for deadlines
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or equivalent job experience
  • 2-3 years’ experience with payroll processing

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Experience with integrated accounting and payroll systems is a plus (Sage preferred, not required)
  • Basic skill level using Microsoft Office products including excel, outlook and word
