We are seeking a skilled CNC or Manual Machinist to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will operate and set up various machining equipment, including ID and OD CNC grinders, CNC gear cutting (hobbers) and CNC shaper cutting machines, to produce precision gears and associated components. Your expertise will contribute to maintaining our reputation for excellence in manufacturing custom gears with tight tolerances and superior quality.
Qualifications And Skills
- Operate CNC machines including ID and OD grinders as well as gear cutting (hobbers) and shaper machines to produce high-precision parts.
- Read and interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications to ensure accurate manufacturing
- Set up tooling, fixtures, and machining parameters according to job requirements, ensuring optimal performance and safety
- Perform precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other precision measuring instruments to verify part dimensions
- Utilize CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software like Mastercam and SolidWorks for programming and tooling design when applicable
- Conduct routine maintenance on machinery and troubleshoot issues promptly to minimize downtime
- Follow lean manufacturing principles to optimize processes, reduce waste, and improve efficiency in production workflows
Skills
- Proven experience operating and programming CNC machinery.
- The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years experience setting up and using various CNC manufacturing equipment including but not limited to: OD and ID grinders, Gear Hobbers and shapers.
- Experience with Studer, Toyoda grinders or Gleason hobbers and shapers is helpful but not required.
- Strong knowledge of blueprint reading, GD&T standards, and mechanical drawings.
- Proficiency in CNC programming using CAM software; familiarity with SolidWorks or Mastercam as well as other programs is a plus.
- Good mechanical ability and with good shop math skills.
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines accurately.
- Basic math skills for calculating dimensions, feeds, speeds, and tolerances.
- Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability in a changing work environment.
- Ability to be punctual on a daily basis.
- Ability to learn and take notes while training with one of our senior machinists.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
