Administrative Manager

We are seeking an administrative manager to run our e-commerce operation, on-site retail and administrative logistics.

Plant Delights Nursery is a retail e-commerce vendor of live plants, which serves customers worldwide. It is also the main funding mechanism for Juniper Level Botanical Gardens, whose focus includes: ex-situ conservation, garden management, plant exploration, plant breeding, plant propagation, and teaching. We are seeking someone to guide a passionate team of professionals in pursuit of a lofty and altruistic conservation vision.

We are also concurrently working with NC State to raise funds for a long-term operational endowment. Once the endowment is fully funded, NC State University will assume oversight.

We need a nurturing manager who can maintain and improve our entire admin and e-commerce operation, and manage our talented team. The Admin manager is also tasked with maintaining and improving customer experience, vendor relationships, with an efficient systems of operation, in a fast and complex work environment. The work environment, both indoor and outdoor, is casual dress.

Our ideal candidate will also have great vision and a detailed understanding of work processes, in order to proactively address concerns with meticulous detail, on both the micro and macro level.

Job Responsibilities:

General Administration

• Manage business and grow sales volume
• Manage and grow garden membership program
• Manage analytics and use those to improve procedures, protocols, and efficiency
• Manage and monitor administrative finances and human resources
• Manage on-site event planning and visitation
• Coordinate overall goals with other managers

E-Commerce Management

• Manage Customer Service Staff and Operating Systems
• Manage Shipping Staff and Operating Systems
• Manage IT/Web development Staff and Operating Systems
• Manage Marketing Staff using detailed analytics for better targeting

Manage HR/Bookkeeping Department

Job Specifications:

• A bachelor’s degree
• Minimum three years business management and e-commerce experience
• Experience and strong understanding of human resources and accounting
• Strong business acumen, including a passion for analytical analysis, tempered by emotional intelligence

Compensation: $56,000 - $60,000 starting, based upon experience

Standard Business Hours:Monday – Friday 8 am - 5 pm plus nursery and garden sales weekends per season: spring (3), summer (2), fall (2) and winter (2).
