Machine Operator

Training on 1st Shift → Long-Term 2nd Shift Opportunity

Overview

We are hiring a dependable Machine Operator to support production in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role focuses on setting up, operating, and maintaining machinery to ensure consistent quality and output.

You will receive structured training on 1st shift before transitioning to 2nd shift. This is a strong opportunity for someone who wants to build long-term skills, grow within a company, and work in a performance-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up machines for production, including calibration, cleaning, and adjustments
  • Monitor and adjust machine settings (speed, feed, etc.) to meet production requirements
  • Load raw materials or parts into machines safely and efficiently
  • Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, and visual checks to ensure quality standards
  • Troubleshoot issues during operation to reduce downtime and maintain output
  • Perform routine machine checks to ensure proper function
  • Identify defects and make adjustments to reduce scrap and improve quality
  • Maintain accurate production records and activity logs
  • Follow all safety procedures and production guidelines
  • Use hand and power tools for setup, adjustments, and minor maintenance
  • Read and follow blueprints and production documentation as needed

Required Qualifications

  • At least 6 months of experience operating CNC machines or punch presses
  • Prior machine operation experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Experience using measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, tape measure)
  • Mechanical aptitude with hands-on setup and adjustment experience
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Comfortable standing for extended periods and handling materials as needed
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with punch presses, press brakes, or shear equipment
  • Familiarity with sheet metal fabrication processes
  • Experience operating or assisting with CNC equipment
  • Exposure to specialty machines such as expanders or similar production equipment
  • Experience maintaining production logs and inspection documentation
  • Willingness to learn new machines and processes through on-the-job training

Work Environment

  • Industrial manufacturing facility (not climate-controlled)
  • Bay doors open in warmer months; fans used for airflow
  • Generally clean for a production environment, with some machine noise
  • Required PPE includes ear and eye protection
  • Active role involving standing, moving, and working with machinery throughout the shift

Schedule

  • Training: 1st Shift for approximately 2–4 months
  • Permanent Shift: 2nd Shift (transition may be accelerated based on performance and business need)

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.92 - $23.92/hr.
