Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist

Our specialty clinic ONLY sees birds for patients. The applicant MUST have had some previous experience working with Exotic bird species, volunteer work, pet store, ownership, etc and have passion toward birds as well as their owners. PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF YOU DO NOT MEET ONE OF THESE CRITERIA.The clinic total staffing is 1-2 employees, so this job involves working in all aspects of the clinic including reception (phones), assisting the veterinarian, setting up diagnostics and surgery along with care for the birds. The clinic has written protocols and procedures for all aspects of running the practice and is aware it takes new employees a few months to get comfortable, but we are looking for that special long-term (many years) employee and has the drive/patience to succeed. No prior veterinary experience is required, but applicant needs to have a past record of reliability and good communication skills because they will work very closely with the veterinarian each day. Treating exotic birds is very different compared to other companion animal and as one of only 4 avian specialty clinics in the United States this job is unique in its offerings.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
