Job Overview

This recruitment is for a Temporary Full-time Medical Assistant position based out of our Laguna Hills Multispecialty location.

Your Role

Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To

  • Room patients, obtain and document vital signs, medical histories, and other clinical information in EPIC.
  • Assist providers with examinations, treatments, procedures, and patient education.
  • Perform clerical and administrative duties including scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and coordinating clinic workflows.
  • Support clinic operations by maintaining supplies, ensuring compliance with dress code and safety standards, and assisting with UC Learning and departmental requirements.

Required

  • Medical Assistant Diploma, Certificate of Competency, or equivalent Medical Assisting Clinical/Back Office certification.
  • Understanding of medical terminology and ability to perform essential clinical and administrative duties.
  • Current BLS certification from the AHA upon hire.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, customer service skills, and ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment with diverse patient populations.

Preferred

  • Previous experience as a Medical Assistant in an ambulatory or outpatient care setting.
  • Phlebotomy certification and experience performing specimen collection.
  • Experience using EPIC and scheduling systems in a healthcare environment.
  • Knowledge of university or academic medical center policies, procedures, and workflows, with flexibility to work occasional weekends or holidays.

Compensation

Pay Rate: $25.00/hour (within range of $24.17/hour - $26.70/hour)

Temporary Employment

To be classified as temporary, this position will be managed by UCI Temporary Employment Services (TES). Interviews and hiring are based on internal hiring needs and how well the candidate's experience matches the assignment requirements.

The majority of our temporary positions are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Occasional part‑time, weekend, and evening hours may be available depending on the assignment. Comprehensive benefits options are available for temporary employees, including paid vacation, holidays, and sick leave.
