Job Description for Freight Handler:

As a Freight Handler at Aramark, you play a key role in ensuring that products are received, organized, and distributed efficiently and accurately. You'll support the overall warehouse operations including inventory management, order preparation, and maintaining a safe, clean work environment.

Qualifications for Freight Handler:

  • To participate, individuals must be 18 years of age or older
  • Applicants who possess a high school diploma or GED are prioritized
  • Ideal candidates will have a background of at least two years in warehouse operations
  • Necessary skills in reading, writing, and arithmetic are key
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Proficiency in communicating clearly and concisely in writing and speech
  • Competence in operating equipment with dexterous hand movements
  • Proficient in lifting weights of up to 50 pounds, with regular carrying and handling of loads up to 35 pounds
  • Depending on the location, individuals may be required to have a valid driver's license, with a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check being a standard procedure

Physical Demands for Freight Handler:

  • Lengthy periods of walking and being on foot
  • Frequent requirements for lifting, bending, pushing, and pulling actions
  • Uniforms and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are to be used in accordance with the regulations

Responsibilities for Freight Handler:

  • Check, designate, and organize incoming products; highlight any disparities observed between the deliveries and associated invoices
  • Employ the FIFO inventory method for perishables to maintain freshness and reduce the risk of spoilage
  • Carry out responsibilities that include the operation or learning to operate manual/electric pallet jacks and forklifts if necessary
  • Compile and manage stock to meet requirements for product, material, and machinery orders
  • Transfer, deliver, and relocate goods within the warehouse area or to customer sites efficiently by utilizing carts or powered machinery
  • Fulfill inventory counting obligations at the designated intervals
  • Accurately record essential information in various documents, such as inventory logs, temperature readings, spoilage records, and equipment inspection reports, utilizing either physical or digital formats
  • Preserve the cleanliness and order of warehouse locations, including restroom facilities, break rooms, loading docks, and raised platforms
  • Observe safety procedures, adhere to OSHA standards, follow guidelines in Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and be familiar with emergency protocols
  • Prioritize the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for safety
  • Safeguard the welfare of both client and business assets
  • Project professionalism when communicating with clients, coworkers, suppliers, and visitors
  • Make sure to be at meetings and complete any other tasks allocated
