JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Substitute

• Certified Teacher
• Student Teachers ONLY

Department: Multiple Positions Available (Elementary, Jr. High, High School)

Reports to: Building Principal(s)

FLSA Class: Non-Exempt

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for providing classroom instruction and support to Unit 5 students.

DUTIES

• Assume duties of the classroom teacher in accordance with school district lesson plans and school rules.
• Leading instruction in the classroom by following the teacher's lesson plans.
• Instructing students on a variety of classroom topics.
• Building positive relationships.
• Motivate students to learn, and encourage classroom participation.
• Create a classroom environment that's conducive to learning and appropriate for the students.
• Adapt to the various learning styles and social needs of students.
• Maintain order in the classroom and demonstrate confidence working with students with varying strengths and skills.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Currently a student teacher for McLean County Unit District No. 5
• Ability to obtain and maintain the Short Term Substitute License through the Regional Office of Education (ROE #17).
• Ability to be on your feet for long periods of time.
• Enforce school regulations and policies in a professional manner.
• Ability to maintain good working relationships with fellow employees and pupils.

COMPENSATION

$135.00/day
