Respiratory Therapist Job Description

As a Respiratory Therapist, you will play a vital role in providing respiratory care to children in various settings. If you thrive in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment and have a passion for pediatric care, this is your chance to make a real difference one breath at a time.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory care to pediatric patients in various settings.
• Administer respiratory therapy treatments and procedures.
• Monitor and evaluate patient responses to therapy.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Educate patients and families on respiratory care and management.
• Apply scientific knowledge, technical expertise, and theory to practical clinical problems.
• Provide therapeutic, diagnostic, consultative, and supportive services for neonatal through adult patients and their families.
• Actively participate in resuscitative and emergent situations.
• Function within professional and hospital standards.

Qualifications

• Required:

a valid Wisconsin Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license.

• Required:

Certification as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) and Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).

• Required:

Current CPR certification – Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers.

• Required:

Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification or willingness to obtain within 6 months.

• Required:

Completion of a respiratory therapy program.

• No pediatric work experience required; at least 2 years of RCP experience strongly preferred for the Day shift position.
• Desire to serve children and families is essential.

Certifications/Licenses

• BLS‑Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider – American Heart Association/American Red Cross/National Safety Council
• License Respiratory Care Practitioner (28) – State of Wisconsin
• PALS‑Pediatric Advanced Life Support – American Heart Association/American Red Cross/National Safety Council
• RRT‑Registered Respiratory Therapist – The National Board for Respiratory Care
