Primary Function of Position

You will become a member of the da Vinci® Multiport Global Product Management team, owning the software and computational architecture that powers our next generation of platform solutions across their lifecycle. This is an individual contributor role and will report to a Group Product Manager. As an upstream strategic and product management expert, you will own the development and launch of a new, scalable hardware/software pipeline—the first of its kind for the platform—and partner with cross-functional teams to guide it from early architecture through commercialization. You will translate software and algorithm needs into a coherent compute architecture roadmap, balancing conflicting needs across different product owners. You will become a key development and design stage stakeholder for multiple projects and will be a global system portfolio expert helping to guide future portfolio strategy recommendations and budgeting.

Essential Job Duties

In the first 12 months from start of employment, the essential job duties are:

Proactively solicit and aggregate the platform software and computational needs to support the future platform roadmap. Create the aligned software and compute system architecture roadmap via detailed benefit and feasibility trade-off process, then ensure aligned multiport BU proposal to Exec leadership

Document and map a comprehensive view of demands for compute along with tradeoffs and understand key strategic points of view from each major stakeholder

Manage an iterative process with stakeholder teams to prioritize product development proposals that align with short and long term dV5 global strategy and other prioritized product roadmaps/strategies

Translate software and algorithm needs into their compute, deployment, and integration requirements, and serve as a key integrator with the Multiport hardware engineering team, managing integration of the software/compute stack and physical hardware into the platform architecture

Liaison with AI & Machine learning product teams within Multiport, Strategy, and Digital business units. Conduct diligence for each product proposal and support viability creation and lead evidence generation if more data needed. Present to Multiport leadership at quarterly cadence.

Lead Product Manager on human/machine interface workstream in 2027 and subsequent development support

Required Skills and Experience

Demonstrated prior experience in essential job duties noted above

Required Education and Training

Minimum of a Bachelor’s (BS/BSE) in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related technical field strongly preferred

12+ years of experience in product management with a Bachelor’s Degree, 8+ years of experience in product management with a Master’s degree, or 5+ years of experience in product management with PhD

At least 5 years of experience in medical devices or a similar field

Product launch experience

Relevant experience in medical devices and/or engineering/technical organizations

Preferred Skills and Experience

Software product management background with strong algorithm fluency—able to reason from an algorithm to the compute it requires, how it is deployed, and how quickly it must perform

Ability to operate broad and deep at the same time, moving fluidly between system-level strategy and detailed technical trade-offs

Medtech or other regulated-industry experience, including familiarity with how software is developed in a regulated environment and the added compute burden that environment creates

Hardware experience is a plus but not required; the right candidate can quickly learn the hardware side given a strong software and algorithm foundation

Masters or Doctorate degree in life science, engineering, or business discipline preferred

Experience leading a portfolio of product lines as the single-point-of-contact in a regulated environment

Experience in one or more of the following areas preferred: medical software, capital equipment, medical devices, digital health, robotics, regulated product development

Working Conditions
