As a fast-paced, boutique environmental consulting firm located in Coral Gables, Florida, Ocean Consulting works with the government’s environmental agencies and building developers to permit construction projects over coastal waters. We primarily work with Miami-Dade County DERM, the Florida DEP and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, as well as different municipal building departments.

We have an opening for a Junior Project Manager to primarily manage projects active with Miami-Dade County DERM, the Florida DEP and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. This is a full-time, in-office position that navigates through the rules, regulations and policies of the environmental agencies in order to obtain permits and approvals for coastal construction projects. You will be responsible for submitting permit applications to county, state and federal environmental agencies, as well as responsible for responding to agencies’ requests for additional information, following up on the status of permit applications with said agencies, sending updates to clients on a weekly basis, and monitoring/tracking the application review process, as well as any other tasks or duties required to assist your team and the firm.

An ideal candidate for this position has a strong work ethic with exceptional organizational skills and the ability to multi-task. This position is ideal for someone who works well independently, who learns quickly, and who takes initiative. The candidate needs need to be able to execute tasks in a timely manner and maintain a professional dialogue with agency staff and clients through email, phone calls and meetings. They must have the ability to prioritize and execute tasks efficiently, while providing assistance to the company’s project team, as needed.

Job Duties

•Prepare permit application packages and submit to county, state and federal environmental agencies for permit processing

•Track progress of new and active permit applications under review with county, state and federal agencies

•Follow-up with agency project managers to push review process toward completion

•Coordinate, prepare and submit responses to environmental staff when requests additional information are received

•Provide weekly updates to our Clients

•Provide project management assistance, as needed

•40-hour work week, in-office

Required Experience

•Bachelor degree in Marine Biology/Environmental Policy/Management or a related environmental field

•Proficient with Microsoft Office

•Very strong writing skills

•Extremely organized

•Strong English communication skills

•Spanish is a plus

Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
