Job Summary
EFP Industrial Automation, a leading automation solutions distributor serving manufacturers in the Dayton, Cincinnati, and Columbus markets, is seeking a Key Account Manager to maintain and grow relationships and market share with our existing customers.
In this role, you will be the primary outside point of contact for your accounts – the first call they make when something goes wrong and the trusted advisor who helps them get more value from EFP’s portfolio. You are less focused on hunting for new logos and more focused on deepening relationships, solving problems quickly, and identifying opportunities to grow wallet share within your existing book of business.
This position reports directly to the President and is ideal for a customer-focused professional who thrives on being in the field, managing a busy and varied workload, and building long-term partnerships.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the first point of outside contact for existing customers – responding quickly to issues, troubleshooting problems, and qualifying the right solution.
- Proactively visit and maintain assigned accounts on a regular cadence to stay ahead of needs, changes, and opportunities.
- Develop a strong working knowledge of EFP’s core product lines – pneumatic, electro-mechanical, and robotic automation – to credibly support and advise customers.
- Identify and pursue opportunities to grow wallet share within the existing account base by uncovering unmet needs and introducing additional products or solutions.
- Collaborate with EFP’s customer care and engineering teams, as well as manufacturer partners, to resolve issues and deliver tailored solutions.
- Effectively manage your territory, prioritizing your time and call schedule to maximize coverage and customer impact.
- Track account activity, customer interactions, and opportunities using CRM tools.
- Represent EFP with a professional, service-oriented presence that reinforces customer confidence and loyalty.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field (or equivalent industry experience).
- Outside sales or account management experience in the manufacturing or industrial automation market preferred.
- Technical aptitude with the ability to learn and apply knowledge of pneumatic, electro-mechanical, and robotic systems.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills – comfortable and confident in front of customers at all levels.
- Highly organized and self-directed, with the ability to manage time and priorities across a large, multi-stop territory.
- Proficient with CRM platforms and Microsoft Office.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel daily within the assigned territory (no overnight travel required).
