Description

The Instructor/Operator (I/O) role provides training services for the Medical Simulation Training Center (MSTC), which plans and carries out instruction and validation in accordance with accepted medical practices and established military medical and operational doctrine. The I/O will be capable of instructing a mixed population of Soldiers, both inexperienced and seasoned. Training may be conducted in a classroom or a field training/evaluation environment.

The I/O will utilize approved simulation scenarios, moulage techniques, environmental control, and theatrical special effects to simulate injuries and environments that the military medic or first responder may confront during various operational echelons. The I/O will assess the students’ critical thinking and psychomotor skills based on their ability to perform under high‑fidelity situations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, modify, and maintain Training Support Packages (TSPs), lesson plans, and training materials as required.
  • Support training event planning, execution, evaluation, and preparation of After Action Reviews (AARs) and related documentation.
  • Instruct and support training on new battlefield medical procedures, techniques, and equipment as directed by the Government.
  • Experience utilizing medical simulation systems, virtual training platforms, and other advanced learning methodologies.
  • Ensure training courses address all levels of students.
  • Instruct, demonstrate, and test Soldiers in all areas of the 68W Sustainment, EMT, and NREMT Nationally Registered Paramedic (NRP) levels, supporting the EMT Sustainment Course, as well as CLS courses. Meet the minimum instructor qualifications for the courses taught.
  • Comfortably instruct a mixed population of Soldiers in class sizes not to exceed the instructor/student ratios directed by AMEDDC&S.
  • Assist the unit in preparing training equipment, including use, preparation, and clean‑up.
  • Use presentation skills to train and educate students on technical material and applications.
  • Remain informed of and maintain proficiency with applicable company products.
  • Take inventory and manage consumable items (skins, synthetic blood, etc.) and Preventive Maintenance Checks & Services (PMCS) kits.
  • Perform daily maintenance (PMCS) on all equipment.
  • Maintain high level of confidentiality regarding student/employee information.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) with a level of EMT or higher.
  • Compliance with one of the following requirements:
  • Former 68W or 18D Noncommissioned Officer Advanced Leader Course (ALC) graduate.
  • Former Navy Enlisted Classification 8404 or Navy Independent Duty Corpsman E‑6 or above.
  • Former Air Force 4

NOX1 or Aerospace Medical Service 4

NOX1 E‑6 or above.

  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse, Physician Assistant, or Physician.
  • Basic Life Support – Health Care Provider (BLS‑HCP) certification.
  • Completion of TC 8‑800 (all tables) or the most current TC 3 instructor course offered by the Army Medical Department (AMEDD); annual TC 8‑800 skills validation.
  • Comprehension skills for understanding and applying course material in presentations.
  • Basic Microsoft Office suite skills.
  • Knowledge of staff positions required to establish and operate program site codes and training centers.
  • U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain a Contractor CAC.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Contributions

  • Combat experience preferred, especially in the medical specialties of 68W, 18D, NEC 8404, or 4

NOX

  • Provider or instructor certifications in PALS, ALS, ACLS, PHTLS, and ITLS.
  • Prior experience in instructional and education methodology.
  • Communication skills to read, write, and follow local training procedures.
  • Interpersonal skills for instructing all levels of students and working in a team.
  • Ability and desire to pursue learning opportunities to acquire latest skills and techniques in the emergency medical field.

Physical Demands
