Job Description

Duties Help

  • You will examine aircraft materials and components to detect malfunctions, damage, or maintenance needs.
  • You will inspect or evaluate material condition of aircraft structures (e.g., structural assemblies, flight controls, components materials) to determine repairs.
  • You will interpret aircraft documentation (e.g., logs, records, interval cards, special configuration information) to determine sheet metal rework, repair, and service tour extension of aircraft.
  • You will verify sheet metal work is completed on time, within cost, and to quality levels required by monitoring execution of work requests, service tickets, and preventative maintenance actions.

Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision such as:

1) Examining and evaluating the condition of aircraft and their components and accessories;

2) Determining the depth of overhaul and repairs required for the particular aircraft and components;

3) Analyzing and evaluating aircraft utilizing inspection criteria as set forth by specifications;

4) Assisting in the implementation of new or revised work standards;

5) Participating with Production, Quality Assurance, Engineering, Project Execution, and the Program Office to resolve controversial issues in regards to depth of repair;

6) Determining the full extent of structural damage, plan, and lay out repairs and modifications;

7) Evaluating multi-trade discrepancies discovered during assembly or testing for further evaluation/correction during aircraft maintenance events; and

8) Initiating feedback information to Quality Assurance for use in the preparation of reports relating to critical discrepancies detected during processing.
