We need an electrician to install and wire emergency lighting and electrical systems in police cars and emergency vehicles. You will work on light bars, sirens, control panels, radio systems, and in-vehicle electronics. You will read wiring diagrams, run cable, mount hardware, and test systems before vehicles leave the shop.
Responsibilities
- Install light bars, sirens, and warning systems in police and emergency vehicles
- Wire control panels, switches, and power distribution systems
- Run and route wiring harnesses through vehicle interiors
- Install radios, computers, and other in-vehicle electronics
- Read and follow wiring diagrams and manufacturer specs
- Test all systems for function and safety before delivery
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults in existing vehicle installations
- Maintain accurate records of installations and repairs
- Follow shop safety procedures and manufacturer guidelines
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in 12V automotive electrical work
- Experience with emergency vehicle lighting, sirens, or upfit electronics
- Ability to read wiring diagrams and schematics
- Working knowledge of hand tools, crimpers, and multimeters
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in confined vehicle spaces
- High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred
- Experience with police or fire fleet upfitting
- Certification from Whelen, Federal Signal, Havis, or similar manufacturers
- Familiarity with mobile radio and mobile data terminal installation
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
