Position: Paramedic (8A-8P) - Advanced Care at Home
MIH Paramedic – full‑time (8:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m.) in Orlando, FL.
Nemours Children’s Health is launching the nation’s first pediatric Mobile Integrated Health (MIH) program as part of our Advanced Care at Home (ACaH) initiative. We are hiring a paramedic to join this transformative model of care that provides advanced care in the home to patients and their caregivers.
Required Skills/Knowledge

- Valid driver’s license and a safe, reliable vehicle capable of transporting equipment and supplies.
Responsibilities
Clinical
- Practice within the designated scope of practice.
- Perform patient assessment and prioritize care based on assessment.
- Conduct home safety assessment.
- Facilitate telehealth videos with ACaH providers and RNs when needed.
- Assist with in‑home set‑up of equipment, devices, and technology as directed by ACaH providers and RNs.
- Implement individualized patient care plans as directed by ACaH providers and RNs.
- Continuously reassess patient and perform advanced role skills according to standard protocols or online physician/provider direction.
- Distinguish between normal and abnormal findings and recognize clinical deterioration.
- Administer and monitor medications per ACaH policies and procedures within scope of practice.
- Document patient care as specified by department and hospital guidelines.
- Promote family‑centered care.
- Maintain proficiency in airway management.
- Maintain proficiency in peripheral IV insertion and fluid administration.
- Maintain proficiency in C‑Spine restriction and splinting.
- Maintain proficiency in needle thoracentesis.
- Maintain proficiency in intraosseous needle placement.
- Coordinate and manage supplies and equipment in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
- Participate in and support research studies, evidence‑based practice projects, and quality improvement initiatives.
Communication
- Maintain an open line of communication with the ACaH team throughout the patient encounter.
- Communicate all pertinent patient information in written and verbal form.
- Provide written and verbal report to receiving provider in an organized and timely manner.
- Complete visit documentation.
Safety
- Maintain vehicle in clean and neat working order and ensure adequate inventories of supplies; complete all equipment and safety checks during shift.
- Provide prompt notification of deficiencies identified during safety checks.
- Anticipate patient needs and secure proper equipment and personnel.
- Promptly communicate safety and equipment concerns per policy.
Management
- Maintain transport vehicle readiness, including cleanliness, equipment and supplies.
- Recognize recurring problems and participate in their resolution.
- Participate in ACaH data collection.
- Actively participate in patient review and performance improvement projects.
- Additional miscellaneous duties and responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor.
Position Requirements
- High School Diploma and graduation from an accredited paramedic program (through a professional institute or a college/university) required.
- Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT‑P) required.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS) required.
- American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required.
- American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (ACLS) required.
- State certifications from Delaware, Maryland, and Pennsylvania within 120 days of hire required.
- Specialty certification (PNCCT, CCEMTP, FP‑C) preferred.
- At least 1 year of ALS experience in a pre‑hospital (911) or inter‑facility transport program required.
- At least 2 years of related experience preferred.
