Position Overview
DSN is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join a federal government engineering team supporting the delivery and operation of mission-critical software systems. This role is best suited to a seasoned DevOps professional with 6+ years of experience who can operate with a high degree of autonomy and provide technical leadership within a federal engineering environment. Due to the sensitive nature of the program, specific project and mission details are shared with candidates as they progress through the interview process.
Team Structure
This position works closely with a cross-functional engineering team, including full stack developers building applications on Angular (front end) and Java and PHP (back end), with AI-assisted development support. The role also partners closely with manual QA testers to ensure release quality and stability. This is a fully remote position; candidates must be able to work core hours aligned to U.S. Eastern Time.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and own CI/CD pipeline architecture supporting Angular, Java, and PHP application teams
- Lead infrastructure as code strategy and standards using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation
- Architect and maintain containerization and orchestration solutions using Docker and Kubernetes
- Partner directly with full stack developers and manual QA testers to define and improve release engineering practices
- Drive system reliability, performance monitoring, and security posture across environments
- Lead root-cause analysis and resolution of complex infrastructure and deployment issues
- Own compliance efforts related to applicable federal security and configuration management requirements
- Mentor mid-level and junior DevOps engineers
- Lead incident response efforts and participate in on-call rotation
- Establish and maintain documentation standards for pipelines, infrastructure, and operational procedures
