SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER – MULTIFAMILY HVAC CONSTRUCTION

Southern Mechanical is seeking an experienced Multifamily HVAC Senior Project Manager to lead large-scale HVAC construction projects from pre-construction through closeout. This role is ideal for a driven construction professional who thrives in fast-paced environments, enjoys leading teams, and takes pride in delivering high-quality projects safely, on time, and within budget.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Project Leadership & Execution

  • Lead HVAC construction projects from planning and startup through final completion
  • Review contracts, drawings, specifications, and project requirements
  • Develop and manage project schedules, milestones, and workforce planning
  • Coordinate materials, equipment, subcontractors, and labor resources
  • Drive project execution while proactively managing risks, delays, and scope changes
  • Support successful project turnover and closeout processes

Financial & Operational Management

  • Manage project budgets, forecasting, cost tracking, and billing processes
  • Monitor labor productivity, procurement, and job costing to support profitability
  • Review and manage change orders, purchase orders, and project financial reporting
  • Partner with operations and accounting teams to maintain financial accuracy and project performance

Field Operations & Team Support

  • Work closely with field leadership, superintendents, and installation teams
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure quality and progress
  • Resolve field conflicts, coordination issues, and operational challenges
  • Promote accountability, collaboration, and strong communication across teams

Client & Vendor Relationships

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for customers, vendors, and subcontractors
  • Lead project meetings and provide updates to customers and leadership
  • Build strong working relationships that support repeat business and long-term partnerships

Safety & Compliance

  • Champion a safety-first culture on every project
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA standards, company policies, and project specifications
  • Support quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) processes
  • Maintain accurate project documentation within Procore or related systems

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of HVAC project management experience
  • Experience managing multifamily, commercial, or multi-story construction projects
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, construction methods, and mechanical codes
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • Financial acumen with experience managing project budgets and forecasting
  • Proficiency with Procore or similar construction management software preferred
  • Valid driver's license with ability to travel to jobsites as needed

Work Environment

This role includes a combination of office and active construction jobsite environments. Candidates should be comfortable visiting jobsites regularly and working in varying weather and construction conditions. Occasional overtime may be required based on project demands and schedules.
