Structural Steel Fitter / Welder job at Express Employment Professionals - Spokane. Spokane, WA. About the Work: Join a dynamic steel-fabrication firm that handles structural, industrial, oil & gas, bridge, and special construction projects. You’ll work hands-on from concept to finished buildwelding, fitting, fabricating, and helping bring complex steel projects to life.

What You’ll Do:

• Perform MIG welding (and sometimes flux-core) on structural steel, plates, beams, stairs, platforms, and misc steel components
• Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and weld symbols
• Fit, lay out, tack, and weld parts to meet specifications
• Use grinders, cutting torches, saws, and basic fabrication tools
• Inspect welds, ensure quality control, and rework as needed
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace
• Occasionally assist with rigging, material handling, and shop support tasks
• Work with the engineering/design teams to resolve fabrication or welding challenges

What We’re Looking For:

• Proven experience as a MIG or structural welder/fabricator
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and welding symbols
• Strong skills in layout, tacking, and finish welding
• Knowledge of steel types, welding techniques, and weld quality standards
• Use of hand and power tools common in metal fabrication
• Attention to detail, commitment to safety, and willingness to learn
• High school diploma or equivalent
• AWS certification is a plus (but not required)
• Ability to lift, bend, and stand for extended periods
