Role and Responsibilities
- Inspect, service, and repair diesel-powered waste collection vehicles and heavy equipment
- Use diagnostic tools to identify mechanical and electrical issues
- Perform preventive maintenance including oil changes, brake servicing, and tire repairs
- Repair and maintain engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and electrical components
- Complete work orders and maintain accurate maintenance and repair records
- Ensure all vehicles meet DOT safety and compliance standards
- Follow company maintenance schedules, safety procedures, and operational guidelines
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Experience working with diesel engines and heavy-duty equipment
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for mechanical and electrical systems
- Knowledge of hydraulic, brake, and drivetrain systems
- Proficiency with hand tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop machinery
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety compliance
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Understanding of DOT regulations and safety standards
Preferred Qualifications
- ASE certification or willingness to obtain certification
- Experience in fleet maintenance or heavy-duty truck repair
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings or overnights
- Interest in advancing into leadership or supervisory roles
Compensation and Benefits
- Hourly pay typically ranges from $28-$40, based on experience and location
