QCI is seeking an experienced Building Inspector to oversee a variety of projects to ensure compliance with applicable building codes, regulations, and provide exceptional service to our clients and communities. This position serves as a key client representative, performing inspections and plan reviews while supervising building department staff and supporting daily department operations.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all state and local building codes, ordinances, regulations, and reporting requirements.
  • Apply comprehensive knowledge of building codes, policies, and procedures to the daily operations of the building department.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between QCI, municipal clients, contractors, developers, residents, and other stakeholders.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service while addressing inquiries, concerns, and code-related issues.
  • Attend meetings as required by the company and client.
  • Conduct commercial and residential plan reviews across multiple disciplines, including building, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing.
  • Perform field inspections to verify compliance with approved plans and applicable codes.
  • Provide inspection support and technical guidance to staff as needed.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate inspection records, reports, and documentation.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Building Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in building inspection, code enforcement, plan review, or municipal building department operations.
  • Current building inspection and/certifications required or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe.
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable building, residential, commercial, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and accessibility codes.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Proficiency with permitting, inspection, and Microsoft Office software systems.
