Advanced Lab Technician

Compensation

$14.00 – $14.92 per hour.

Position Summary

This position monitors and coordinates the activities of assigned laboratories and provides support and assistance to enable effective and safe lab operations.

Job Duties

• Assist lab assistants and support faculty and students regarding appropriate use of equipment and lab procedures, including mixing chemicals.
• Troubleshoot laboratory problems.
• Set up and take down labs for class when appropriate.
• Clean and stock materials.
• Provide necessary materials and equipment required for effective laboratory instruction and experiments.
• Assist faculty with the preparation of lab materials and lab tests.
• Monitor and coordinate lab activities; train and/or provide guidance to part-time lab technicians and student assistants.
• Maintain safe and clean working conditions in the lab.
• Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment.
• Prepare specimens for laboratory use.
• Maintain lab equipment as needed and keep supplies stocked.
• Perform similar and related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• AA degree or two years of experience working in a science, chemistry, or medical laboratory.
• Ability to work some evenings and weekends.
