Job Title: Warehouse Worker / Supply Specialist
Job Description
The Warehouse Worker / Supply Specialist supports critical clinical operations by performing a wide range of materials management, distribution, and logistics tasks within a hospital environment. This role focuses on accurately determining replenishment needs, locating and selecting medical supplies, documenting the receipt and issue of materials, and ensuring timely distribution of supplies and equipment throughout the medical complex. The position requires strong attention to detail, reliable execution of inventory processes, and consistent adherence to quality and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Determine replenishment requirements for medical supplies and materials to support clinical activities within the medical complex.
- Locate, select, and pull medical supplies and materials accurately based on orders and departmental needs.
- Document the receipt of supplies and equipment, ensuring all shipments are checked, verified, and recorded correctly.
- Distribute medical supplies and equipment to designated areas within the hospital in a timely and organized manner.
- Perform shipping and receiving functions, including checking incoming deliveries, processing outgoing shipments, and completing related documentation.
- Conduct physical inventories and participate in regular inventory counts to maintain accurate stock levels.
- Use RF scanners and other scanning devices to record materials movement, track inventory, and update system records.
- Pick orders and stock shipments safely and efficiently, following established procedures and prioritizing accuracy.
- Perform packing, packaging, and labeling of materials to ensure items are properly identified and ready for distribution.
- Utilize logistics systems, including SAP or similar software, to support order picking, inventory management, and shipping and receiving activities.
- Communicate clearly and professionally via email and in person to coordinate materials, resolve discrepancies, and support internal customers.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with hospital and departmental standards.
- Perform quality control checks on materials and documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with procedures.
- Support team members and contribute to a collaborative, team-oriented work atmosphere.
- Work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as scheduled to ensure continuous materials management coverage.
Essential Skills
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- At least 1 year of related work experience in materials management, logistics, warehouse operations, or a similar field.
- Ability to work rotating weekends, rotating shifts, and some holidays as required.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to perform recordkeeping tasks, including documentation of shipping, receiving, and inventory activities.
- Experience performing shipping and receiving functions, including verification and documentation of incoming and outgoing materials.
- Ability to conduct physical inventories and perform quality control checks on materials and records.
- Computer literacy with intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to stand on feet for the majority of the shift.
- Physical ability to pick orders and stock shipments, including lifting, carrying, and moving materials as needed.
- Ability to use scanners or RF scan guns to record and track materials.
- Material handling and logistics experience.
- Order picking, packing, and warehouse inventory experience.
- Experience with shipping and receiving processes and logistics workflows.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Prior experience in logistics within a healthcare or hospital environment.
- Experience using RF scan guns for order picking and inventory control.
- Familiarity with SAP or similar logistics and inventory management systems.
- Experience with packaging, labeling, and preparing materials for distribution.
- Comfort using email and basic office software for communication and documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling medical supplies and documentation.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and support colleagues as needed.
