Experienced Veterinary Technician
We are seeking a reliable, team-oriented Veterinary Technician who is passionate about animal welfare and committed to delivering exceptional patient care.
Position Title: Experienced Veterinary Technician
Preferred Qualification: Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Location: Sarasota, FL
Compensation: $25.00 per hour
Expected Hours: 40 hours per week
Schedule: Day Shift: 7:45 AM - 5:00 PM
Overtime is rare
No night shifts
Occasional Saturday coverage may be required
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of veterinary technician experience required
- Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) preferred
- Experience in Spay / Neuter, Shelter Medicine, Emergency Medicine, and/or General Practice
- Proficiency in advanced surgical skills, including: Intubation, Patient monitoring, Catheter placement and removal, Surgical preparation
- Strong communication skills in English
- Spanish proficiency or proficiency in another language is a plus
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work effectively in a team environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Care & Surgical Support
- Provide compassionate care to patients in a safe, clean, and supportive environment
- Prepare animals for surgery, including: Intubation, Shaving and surgical prep, Bladder expression, Nail trimming
- Assist veterinarians during surgical procedures
- Monitor patients before, during, and after surgery
- Safely place and remove IV catheters as needed
- Administer vaccines, medications, and perform diagnostic testing
- Provide wound care and post-operative treatments
- Surgical & Recovery Duties
- Perform high-volume surgical support duties
- Ensure all patients remain safe, clean, warm, and comfortable during recovery
- Monitor patient recovery and communicate concerns appropriately
- Facility & Inventory Management
- Clean and maintain surgical equipment and supplies
- Maintain cleanliness of treatment areas, kennels, and clinic facilities
- Manage laundry, including washing, folding, and maintaining adequate stock levels
- Ensure sufficient inventory of medical and surgical supplies
- Assist with general clinic operations as needed
