Position Summary

The CNC Machinist (Night Shift) is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machines to produce precision components in accordance with engineering specifications. This role supports production goals while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.

Work Schedule

Night Shift: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM (or as required). Overtime as needed

Shift Differential

$2.00 per hour for night shift.

Key Responsibilities

Set up and operate CNC machines (lathes, mills, or multi-axis equipment)

Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions

Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, and materials for each job

Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments to maintain tolerances

Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges)

Troubleshoot machining issues and escalate complex problems as needed

Maintain accurate production and inspection records

Ensure all parts meet quality standards and specifications

Perform routine machine maintenance and report any equipment issues

Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of PPE

Maintain a clean and organized work area

Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members across shifts

Support continuous improvement initiatives and production efficiency efforts

Perform other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

Strong understanding of CNC machining processes and tooling

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T (preferred)

Experience with machine setup, offsets, and tool changes

Ability to hold tight tolerances in a production environment

Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Ability to work independently during night shift operations

Strong attention to detail and quality

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required

Minimum 2–5 years of CNC machining experience preferred

Experience with CNC lathes and/or mills required

Experience with Fanuc, Haas, or similar controls preferred

Manual machining experience is a plus

Work Environment

Manufacturing/shop environment

Prolonged standing, lifting, and working around machinery

Exposure to noise, metal shavings, and industrial equipment

PPE required at all times
