𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲
A San Francisco autonomous vehicle company is hiring engineering-focused Automotive Technicians to keep its self-driving fleet road-ready. If you're a strong tech who's tired of the flat-rate grind, chasing book time, eating comebacks, getting pushed to upsell, this is a different kind of shop. You're paid by the hour to do real work: diagnostics, electrical troubleshooting, and repairs. No customers, no service writers, no commission games. Just you, the vehicles, and an engineering team that actually wants your read on what's failing and why.
𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗲
- $46 to $50 per hour, hourly and guaranteed, no flat rate
- Weekly pay
- Full benefits: medical, dental, vision, plus 401(k)
- Multiple shifts (days, evenings, overnights) so you can pick what fits your life
- Hands-on experience on cutting-edge autonomous vehicles, the kind that's hard to get anywhere else
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗱𝗼
- Diagnose and repair across mechanical and electrical systems, the hard stuff, not basic service
- Run electrical diagnostics and troubleshooting, and escalate the truly gnarly ones to engineering
- Own a repair from first symptom to signed-off and road-ready
- Build diagnostic test plans and document what you find
- Keep your bay, tools, and parts dialed in
𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗹𝗲
Full-time, on-site in San Francisco. Multiple shifts across days, evenings, and overnights (1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift). We confirm your shift on the call.
𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗶𝗳
- You can chase a parasitic draw, read a wiring diagram, and walk through a real diagnosis you're proud of
- You came up in a dealership, OEM, fleet, or diesel/heavy-equipment shop as a technician or mechanic
- You'd rather be paid hourly to do it right than flat-rate to do it fast
- You're curious about EVs, high-voltage systems, and where the industry is headed
𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗶𝗳
- Your day is mostly oil changes, tires, and basic maintenance (this seat lives in diagnostics)
- You're primarily a body or collision tech (different skill set)
- You're not comfortable with electrical troubleshooting or following structured, safety-first procedures
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱
- 2+ years of hands-on automotive technician experience (maintenance, diagnostics, repair)
- Comfortable with automotive electrical diagnostics and troubleshooting
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Able to pass a background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle report (MVR)
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs and be on your feet for a full shift
- Local to San Francisco and able to work on-site
- Authorized to work in the U.S. (no visa sponsorship)
𝗡𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲
- EV or high-voltage battery experience
- CAN systems, wiring diagrams, soldering
- Trade school certificate or associate degree in automotive repair
- Forklift or gantry certification. Not certified? We'll get you certified.
