Job Title: Assembly Technician

Job Description

This role focuses on assembling and building aerospace components in a small, clean, and temperature-controlled production environment. You will work with a close-knit team of assemblers to connect cables, handle glass parts coming from a furnace, and perform testing to ensure each component meets strict aerospace quality standards. The position requires careful use of schematics and blueprints, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining an organized and safe workspace.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble aerospace parts and components according to schematics, blueprints, and work instructions.
  • Connect cables and aerospace connectors, ensuring secure and accurate component assembly.
  • Inspect assembled components to verify quality, accuracy, and compliance with specifications.
  • Perform basic testing on assembled parts to confirm proper functionality.
  • Use hand tools, mechanical tools, and electrical tools safely and effectively during assembly and inspection.
  • Handle glass parts coming from a furnace with care, following safety and handling guidelines.
  • Collaborate with a small team of assemblers to meet daily and weekly production deadlines.
  • Follow detailed drawings, work instructions, and documentation throughout the assembly process.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in a controlled production environment.
  • Complete basic computer data entry related to production, inspections, and work orders.
  • Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors, providing feedback on issues, defects, or process improvements.
  • Manage multiple tasks and priorities while staying on schedule and maintaining high quality standards.

Essential Skills

  • Experience with mechanical and electrical assembly in a manufacturing or related environment.
  • Hands-on experience with component assembly, including connectors and cable assemblies.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings.
  • Proficiency using hand tools and basic mechanical tools for assembly and inspection.
  • Experience working with aerospace components, aviation parts, or similar precision products.
  • Inspection skills to identify defects, verify dimensions, and ensure quality standards.
  • Basic understanding of drawings, work instructions, and production documentation.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and documentation updates.
  • Strong attention to detail to support precise assembly and manufacturing processes.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills to share feedback and status updates.
  • Ability to work independently while staying on task and meeting deadlines.
  • Capability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Soldering experience in aerospace, aviation, or other high-reliability industries.
  • Background in aerospace, aviation, manufacturing, or medical device assembly and inspection.
  • Familiarity with aerospace components, connectors, and related hardware.
  • Organizational skills to manage work orders, parts, and documentation efficiently.
  • Comfort working with glass components and materials that require careful handling.

Work Environment

This position operates in a very clean, temperature-controlled production facility focused on aerospace manufacturing. You will work Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with a typical schedule of around 40 hours per week. The assembly area is small and team-oriented, with approximately ten assemblers working closely together. You will handle glass parts coming from a furnace, use hand tools and basic mechanical and electrical tools, and follow detailed work instructions at your station. The environment emphasizes organization, safety, and precision, with clear processes and documentation guiding daily work.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fridley, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
