Position: Welder - RedGuard Diversified Structures

Overview

A Welder I is responsible for the welding and final installation of steel components in the production of residential and commercial storm shelters, engineered metal buildings, and other industrial buildings. In this role, you will operate cranes, jigs, torches, plasma, hand tools, and welding machines while adhering to RGDS Quality Standards. The Welder I contributes to delivering a quality product on time.

Responsibilities

  • Proficiently welds components in flat, vertical, horizontal, and overhead positions.
  • Prepare and set up materials for welding using hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.
  • Operate welding equipment and material handling equipment such as overhead cranes.
  • Maintain schedule and budgets for the task at hand and for the overall project.
  • Cross-train and apply additional trade skills in multiple stages of the manufacturing process as assigned.
  • Follow established safety and security rules; maintain a safe, clean work area.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Capable of passing weld tests with proven experience in Short Arc and Spray Arc MIG welding.
  • Knowledge of proper welding techniques.
  • Ability to minimize scrap or rework and continually improve quality.
  • Basic math skills and ability to read a tape measure.
  • Ability to pass company-required welding certifications.
  • Proficiency with hand tools including grinders, tape measures, squares, come-a-longs, torches, and plasma cutters.
  • Basic computer skills.

  • Heavy work: exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.
  • Standing, climbing, kneeling, bending, and twisting throughout the day.
  • Close visual acuity for reading blueprints, measuring devices, and performing welding inspection.
  • Exposure to hot/cold climates, dust, and noise.
  • Must be able to weld vertical, flat, or overhead components.
  • Hazards include proximity to moving parts, electrical currents, and working at heights.
  • Full use of hands and arms for coordination and manipulation of tools and materials.
