This dynamic role is essential to our accounting team, providing crucial support to the Accounting Director across a range of financial operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Accounting & Close Process • Assist with month-end and year-end close, prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Ensure the general ledger is accurate and that transaction postings are timely.
- Prepare account analyses and schedules for leadership review.
- Accounts Payable & Operations • Manage the full accounts payable (AP) process, including: • Processing, coding, and approval of invoices.
- Ensuring proper documentation and timely payments.
- Communicating with vendors and resolving issues.
- Track and process wire transfers, including international payments as necessary.
- Compliance & Reporting • Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain adherence to GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards.
- Support grant and sponsor compliance, ensuring proper expense classification and allocation.
- Help prepare Form 990 and related reporting.
- Audit & Special Projects • Assist in the preparation for annual financial audits and programmatic audits.
- Provide auditors with necessary documentation, schedules, and analyses.
- Engage in process improvements and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Required • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Demonstrated experience in: • Accounts payable processing and vendor management.
- Month-end close, journal entries, and reconciliations.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks (or similar accounting systems).
- Strong skills in Excel (including pivot tables, formulas, and reconciliations).
- Solid understanding of GAAP.
