Job Family Description
Ensure the University operates in a financially controlled and secure manner for all accounting and financial management in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Interprets financial policies, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of accounting records, and delivery of services to the customers served by all accounting operations. Ensure compliance with University policies, and state and federal laws and regulations. Develop strategies and initiatives that strengthen the agency’s ?nancial functions to ensure e?cient use of University resources while providing a high level of customer service.
Common Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Knowledge in the areas of accounting, finance, banking, grants, tax, and/or debt management principles, practices and procedures for financial management and analysis. Ability to interpret and analyze financial data, records and reports. Detail oriented, with the ability to work with various stakeholders to achieve a desired result. Interpersonal, communication and organizational skills. Ability to analyze data to produce reports for assessment purposes. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with key employers, suppliers, finance stakeholders and partners, professional contacts, faculty, staff, and administration. Knowledge in the use of complex ERP systems for financial management and other general software products and software.
Job Function Fiscal Analysis
Job Function Description
Assists with the oversight of day-to-day fiscal operations for assigned areas. Primary responsibilities include the billing and disbursement functions, analysis/reconciliation of accounts, and utilization of PeopleSoft to execute financial processes. This position is also responsible for the evaluation and implementation of departmental fiscal policies, procedures, and systems.
Common Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of the principles, practices, theories and terminology of accounting, banking, budgeting, financial management or investment. Knowledge of state government fiscal accounting processes. Knowledge of financial statement analysis. Ability to analyze and interpret complex financial data and reports. Ability to plan, organize, review and supervise the work of subordinates. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to communicate effectively. Knowledge of University policies and procedures related to finance.
