The Role

Were hiring a Commercial Landscaping Foreman to lead a field crew delivering landscape maintenance and installation across our portfolio of commercial sites in and around the Tri-state area. This is a hands-on leadership position: youll work alongside your crew while directing the days work, holding the team to Cambridges quality standards, and serving as our point person on-site.

Youre the link between the office and the field translating the days schedule into a plan, keeping the crew safe and productive, and making sure every property leaves looking the way our clients expect.

Additional work during October, November, December and January for Holiday decor installation and breakdown. This work does require long hours each week.

What Youll Do

Lead a crew. Supervise, train, and motivate a field crew (typically 35 technicians and laborers), assigning tasks and keeping everyone focused, safe, and productive throughout the day.

Run the day. Plan and coordinate daily workloads, routes, and the equipment and materials each job needs. Load out in the morning and account for everything at days end.

Deliver the work. Perform and oversee commercial landscape maintenance and installation planting, pruning, bed care, seasonal cleanups, turf care, and related tasks to spec and on schedule.

Own quality. Walk each site before leaving to confirm the work meets Cambridge standards, and correct anything that doesnt.

Manage equipment and vehicles. Operate crew trucks and equipment safely, and ensure end-of-day cleanup, inspection, and basic maintenance.

Enforce safety. Make sure the crew follows all health and safety regulations at all times.

Communicate. Coordinate with property managers and facilities staff on-site about current site needs, and keep the office informed with accurate daily records and paperwork.

Spot problems early. Recognize plant-health issues diseases and pests such as spider mites, blight, scale, and the like and flag conditions that need attention.

Qualifications

3+ years of commercial landscape experience, with at least 1 year leading or directing a crew (crew leader, foreman, or similar).

Valid New York State drivers license and a clean driving record (youll be driving crew vehicles).

Working knowledge of landscape maintenance and installation practices, plant material, and seasonal care in the Northeast.

Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions, schedules, and site plans.

Able to lift 50+ lbs and to work outdoors in all seasons and conditions bending, kneeling, climbing, and standing for extended periods.

Strong communication skills and the ability to keep a team organized, focused, and detail-oriented.

Additional Pay for What You Bring

We pay more for credentials and experience that make you more effective in the field:

NYS DEC Commercial Pesticide Applicator certification especially Category 3A (Ornamentals, Shade Trees & Turf). Holding a 3A applicator certification lets you direct pesticide applications in the field.

Irrigation installation, repair, or troubleshooting experience.

Masonry and hardscape experience.

Commercial Drivers License (CDL).

Bilingual (English/Spanish) a strong plus for leading a diverse crew.

Schedule

7 to10-hour shifts, Monday to Saturday.

Sunday availability may be required (landscaping work is seasonal, and peak season and weather can call for Sunday hours).

9 hour shifts 7 days a week for about 8 to 10 weeks in the winter season for Holiday installation and breakdown work.
