A growing commercial real estate ownership and property management company is seeking an experienced Commercial Property Accountant / Senior Accountant to support full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of commercial properties. This role is ideal for someone with strong property accounting experience, exposure to CAM/recoveries, and hands-on experience with Yardi Breeze or a similar property management accounting system.

The position will work closely with ownership and senior leadership and will be responsible for accurate financial reporting, month-end close, reconciliations, cash management, and property-level accounting.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage full-cycle accounting for multiple commercial real estate entities and properties
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting
  • Handle general ledger accounting, journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes
  • Review rent rolls, tenant billings, CAM charges, recoveries, and related reconciliations
  • Track capital expenditures, tenant improvements, development costs, and property-level expenses
  • Monitor cash flow, operating accounts, and reserve funds
  • Reconcile monthly bank activity and property-level accounts
  • Manage or review accounts payable and accounts receivable activity
  • Prepare lender, ownership, and investor reporting as needed
  • Coordinate with external CPAs, tax advisors, and internal leadership on tax and compliance matters
  • Assist with property tax reviews, appeals, and assessments
  • Support process improvements related to accounting workflows, reporting accuracy, and system utilization

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of accounting experience, preferably within commercial real estate or property management
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, accrual accounting, and property-level financial reporting
  • Experience with multiple entities and multiple property accounting
  • Hands-on experience with Yardi Breeze strongly preferred; experience with similar property management/accounting software will be considered
  • Experience with rent rolls, CAM reconciliations, tenant billings, recoveries, and commercial property accounting
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Ability to work directly with ownership, executive leadership, and outside advisors
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage deadlines across multiple priorities

Preferred Experience:

  • Retail center, shopping center, or commercial property accounting background
  • Experience supporting acquisitions, dispositions, refinances, or construction/property improvement accounting
  • Prior experience in a hands-on senior accountant, property accountant, assistant controller, or controller-level role
