Aerotek has opened a position for a Heavy Equipment Operator within their manufacturing and distribution division. This role is pivotal in boosting operational efficiency through aiding machine operators, supervising materials, and ensuring the safe manipulation of steel items in a fast-paced work atmosphere. Your duties will revolve around assisting in the maintenance of a streamlined workflow and upholding Aerotek's assurance to safety and superior quality.

Role and Responsibilities:

In the position of a Heavy Equipment Operator you will manage steel supplies, operate overhead cranes and forklifts, and support production and shipping functions by assisting with miscellaneous labor tasks.

  • Use an overhead crane to deliver steel materials to machine operators and eliminate finished beams from the area
  • Develop a system for marking steel items that is straightforward and user-friendly for welders
  • Employ cranes for the movement and purification of rigging components
  • Help with the unloading of flatbed trailers and getting them set for delivery
  • Engaging in forklift operation for moving materials
  • Throughout the 8-10 hour shifts, workers must continuously walk, stand, and engage in bending activities
  • Utilize both automated inventory systems and manual selection tickets to handle stock efficiently
  • Ensure the accuracy of loads, weights, and materials prior to delivery and shipping

Essential Skills and Competencies:

  • Skilled in handling materials, coordinating shipping operations, and managing inventory
  • Capability to handle forklifts and overhead cranes effectively
  • A track record of 3-5 years in the manufacturing or distribution industry
  • A year of practice in rigorous heavy industry or outdoor labor
  • Being adept at reading a measuring tape is important for those engaging in cross-training activities

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in heavy industry, construction, or manual labor tasks
  • Familiarity with packaging, sheet metal, and logistics plays a key role in navigating the intricacies of these sectors
  • Capacity to execute physical duties in a range of atmospheric environments

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Pay: $18.00/hr

Work Environment:

Work primarily indoors with some outdoor tasks. The facility is newly expanded and well-lit with CNC saws and welders. The role involves working in a non-climate-controlled environment with exposure to hot summers and cold winters. Standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
