Overview
Colgate University offers a unique work environment where faculty and staff collaborate in a highly selective residential liberal arts setting. This role provides exposure to a variety of positions within the university and contributes to creating a safe, clean, and welcoming campus for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
Responsibilities
- Maintain assigned areas in a clean and safe condition, performing tasks such as cleaning bathrooms; showers, kitchens, and apartments; vacuuming; dusting and polishing; washing windows, walls, and woodwork; removing trash and recyclables; stripping and refinishing floors; extraction cleaning of carpets; and other duties as needed.
- Ensure cleanliness of immediate outdoor perimeter of assigned building(s).
- Assist with moves and deliveries, including setting up for special events.
- Follow safety protocols and report maintenance and safety items to the facilities office.
- Work well with colleagues in a team-oriented environment and maintain flexibility to handle diverse job assignments.
Qualifications
- Must be capable of working collegially with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff, and visitors on a daily basis.
- Must be able to stand for long periods and lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to handle heavy equipment such as industrial vacuum cleaners and containers such as trash bags or cans.
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license in accordance with the university’s motor vehicle policy.
Schedule
Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
