Role and Responsibilities:
The diesel truck mechanic is responsible for performing comprehensive repairs and preventive maintenance on heavy-duty trucks and related equipment, ensuring vehicles remain safe, compliant, and road-ready.
- Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems.
- Use vehicle diagnostic and electronic systems to identify mechanical issues and determine corrective actions.
- Conduct safety inspections on trucks and equipment.
- Document maintenance activities using fleet maintenance software.
- Review and address repair needs identified in driver vehicle inspection reports.
- Respond to emergency breakdowns and roadside service needs.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with company policies and OSHA standards.
- Clearly communicate required repairs and maintenance recommendations.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of two years of hands-on experience in heavy-duty truck maintenance and repair, or completion of an accredited vocational or technical training program.
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to read, write, understand, and communicate effectively in English.
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening, motor vehicle record review, and background check.
- Ownership of required personal tools and appropriate tool storage.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting items over 50 pounds and working in indoor and outdoor environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Commercial Driver's License (Class A or B) preferred, with the ability to obtain a CDL within 90 days through employer-supported training.
- Experience with welding and fabrication.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Hourly pay ranging from $32.00 to $36.00 based on experience.
