Role and Responsibilities:
As a Material Handling Sales Associate, you will assist customers in choosing products such as lumber, drywall, plywood, and related supplies. Your role blends personalized service, in-depth product knowledge, and project support to help customers achieve their goals.
- Welcome and assist customers with a friendly, professional approach.
- Guide customers in selecting building materials including lumber, drywall, and plywood.
- Provide product details, technical recommendations, and project advice.
- Track inventory levels and replenish stock when needed.
- Help load heavy merchandise and process special orders.
- Collaborate with colleagues to meet sales objectives and improve customer satisfaction.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe sales floor environment.
- Participate in cross-training to support other store departments.
Required Skills and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- At least 6 months of retail or customer service experience, ideally in building materials or home improvement.
- Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 75 lbs safely and consistently.
- Basic math skills with proficiency using computers or mobile devices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in building materials or lumber sales.
- Knowledge or certification in construction or a related trade.
- Bilingual communication skills.
