Shift: Night Shift – 6:00 PM to 6:30 AM

Schedule: Variable Days

Job Summary

The Respiratory Therapist (RRT) provides comprehensive respiratory care services to neonatal and adult critical care patients in accordance with physician orders and established clinical protocols. This role requires advanced clinical expertise in Level III NICU and adult critical care environments, including ventilator management, emergency response, and specialized neonatal respiratory procedures. The therapist applies respiratory therapy techniques, diagnostic evaluation, patient education, and rehabilitative care to support optimal cardiopulmonary function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer respiratory therapy treatments as prescribed by physicians.
  • Perform diagnostic evaluations including arterial blood gas (ABG) collection and analysis, pulmonary assessments, and cardiopulmonary testing.
  • Manage and monitor mechanical ventilation for neonatal and adult critical care patients.
  • Provide respiratory care across multiple units, including adult critical care and neonatal intensive care (NICU).
  • Participate in delivery attendance and neonatal resuscitation when required.
  • Initiate and manage advanced respiratory therapies including high-frequency ventilation, nitric oxide therapy, heliox therapy, bubble CPAP, and heated high-flow oxygen therapy.
  • Perform neonatal intubation and neonatal ventilator management.
  • Maintain artificial airways and perform bronchopulmonary hygiene procedures.
  • Administer pharmacologic agents related to respiratory therapy.
  • Educate patients and families regarding respiratory treatments and disease management.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Float to all assigned clinical areas based on department needs.
  • Participate in on-call coverage as scheduled.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of Level III NICU experience ( required – do not submit without).
  • Demonstrated competency in:
  • High Frequency Ventilation
  • Nitric Oxide Therapy
  • Heliox Therapy
  • Neonatal Intubation
  • Neonatal Ventilator Management
  • Bubble CPAP
  • Heated High Flow for Neonates
  • Neonatal Arterial Puncture
  • Delivery Attendance
  • Ability to work independently in high-acuity critical care settings.
  • Strong clinical judgment and emergency response skills.

Preferred Experience

  • NICU Transport experience.

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.

Required Certifications & Licensure

  • RRT – Registered Respiratory Therapist (Required)
  • ABG License (Required)
  • BLS – Basic Life Support
  • ACLS – Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support
  • PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support
  • NRP – Neonatal Resuscitation Program

Additional Requirements

  • Must be willing to float between adult and neonatal critical care areas.
  • On-call shifts required as needed.
