We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our team at the United States Coast Guard dental clinic in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care while assisting the dentist in various procedures. Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures, ensuring a smooth workflow.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary materials are available.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) as directed by the dentist.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment care.
- Maintain accurate patient records using dental software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Adhere to infection control protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Schedule appointments and manage patient flow within the clinic.
- Assist with administrative tasks, including medical coding and billing when necessary.
- Support pediatric dentistry practices by creating a welcoming atmosphere for young patients.
Qualifications
- Registered Dental Assistant with DANB certification a must!
- Twelve months experience within the past thirty-six months as a Dental Assistant is required.
- Familiarity with dental software systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of infection control standards and medical coding practices.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages.
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment while maintaining professionalism.
- Certification in dental assisting and radiology is required.
- Must be detail-oriented, organized, and capable of multitasking in a busy clinical setting.
- BLS Certified through either the American Red Cross or American Heart Association or be willing to complete that prior to starting.
