Surgical Technologist - Operating Room

Full-time, 40 Hours/week

Sat and Sun 07-1530 + 1 - 8 hr. and 2 - 10hr shifts/week

Summary:

Surgical Technologists are responsible for preparing the operating room, including but not limited to, the sterile field, setting up surgical equipment, supplies, etc. and assisting during the surgical procedure.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for scrubbing on all major and minor surgical procedures as assigned.
• Participates with patient assessments while planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care.
• Responsible for maintaining operating room suite supplies, pulling procedures, assisting with continuing education, precepting, and orientation of all staff.
• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the physical, psych/social, educational, and safety needs of the patients served regardless of age.
• Participates in various hospital activities as appropriate and as directed by the Manager, or other charge staff.
• Other duties as required.

Other information:

Technical Expertise • Experience in pediatric surgery is preferred.

• Experience working with all levels within an organization is preferred.
• Experience in healthcare is preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is required.

Education and Experience • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required; Must be currently enrolled in a surgical technologist program.

• Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) is required. Candidate must be eligible to sit for the surgical technologist certification and pass within 12 months of hire.
• Years of experience: Years of relevant experience: 0 to 2 years is preferred
• Years of experience supervising: N/A
