Payroll Manager
Trevose, PA (Hybrid)
Up to $95,000 + Bonus
About the Organization
Join a stable, fast-growing, private equity-backed health & wellness organization with over 500 locations nationwide and continued expansion plans toward 1,000 locations globally. This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic, high-growth environment with approximately $700M in annual revenue.
The Opportunity
This is a standalone payroll role supporting approximately 700 employees across corporate and field operations. The position sits within a 4-person HR team and owns the full-cycle payroll process independently — this is a payroll management role, not a people management role (no direct reports, payroll team of one). The organization is looking for a confident, independent payroll professional who can take full ownership of payroll operations and drive process improvements, not someone looking to build out a team.
What You'll Do
- Own weekly full-cycle payroll processing for multiple states in a multi-entity environment, currently on ADP Workforce Now for 700+ employees and growing
- Process employee changes, salary and deduction updates, and terminations
- Run pre-payroll reports, audits, and balancing across time batches, timecard exceptions, PTO reconciliation, new hire entries, and garnishments
- Process manual checks and off-cycle payroll runs as needed
- Manage time and attendance auditing and discrepancy resolution
- Own the payroll vendor relationship as the main point of contact
- Collaborate with HR on benefits and retirement plan administration within the HRIS/payroll system
- Own payroll tax filings and deposits, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal agencies; set up new tax accounts as needed
- Ensure compliance with payroll, wage, and hour laws, including garnishment and support order administration
- Handle year-end payroll tasks including W-2 reconciliation
- Recommend and help implement process and systems improvements for efficiency and scalability — the organization is exploring new payroll/POS systems suited to its industry, so adaptability is key
- Process a small biweekly Canadian payroll (limited, largely automated exposure — Canadian experience not required)
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of full-cycle payroll processing experience
- Strong expertise with ADP Workforce Now (required)
- Advanced Excel skills (required)
- Experience processing payroll for approximately 700 employees
- Multi-state payroll experience, including tax withholdings and filings
- Ability to work independently and autonomously — confident, low-ego, and comfortable owning the function solo
- Flexible and adaptable; comfortable with change as the organization evolves its systems and processes
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary up to $95K, with discretionary bonus (typically 5%)
- 160 hours PTO (4 weeks, prorated)
- Health, dental, vision, company holidays, 401(k) eligibility after 90 days
- Complimentary monthly massage or facial, plus quarterly product perks
Schedule
- Hybrid: Monday onsite, Friday remote, with flexibility on one of Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday — 3 days onsite, 2 remote total
