Diesel/ Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Job Description:
This position primarily is responsible for preventative maintenance and repair of different types of heavy equipment, aggregate trucks, and fleet vehicles.
General responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Operate in safe and efficient manner following all personal protective equipment (PPE) and process requirements
- Provide routine maintenance of equipment
- Assemble, set up, adjust and/or repair on CAT, BOBCAT, JOHN DEERE, PETERBILT and other construction equipment and parts.
- Read and understand operating manuals, blue prints, and technical drawings
- Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools
- Examine parts for damage or excessive wear using micrometers and gauges
- Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment vehicles
- Clean and maintain work areas
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Requires solid knowledge and understanding of proper operation and capabilities of equipment
- Proven experience as a mechanic
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills with desire to seek solutions
- Must be a strong team player
- Lift plant components up to 50 lbs., be able to climb stairs and ladders, and have the capability to move in a variety of body positions
- Must possess good perceptual skills used in judging distances
- Valid driver’s license
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening, physical, and comprehensive background check and MVR.
- Must have proof of employment eligibility (e-verify) is required for any position offered
*Compensation will be determined by prior working experience.
