Role Description This full-time, on-site Certified Phlebotomist role is based in Philadelphia, PA. The Certified Phlebotomist will perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection on patients of varying ages, following established protocols and safety standards. Daily responsibilities include verifying patient identity, labeling specimens accurately, preparing samples for laboratory testing, and ensuring proper handling, storage, and transportation of specimens. The role also involves maintaining clean and organized phlebotomy stations, documenting procedures in electronic systems, and communicating clearly and respectfully with patients and clinical staff. The Certified Phlebotomist will collaborate with nurses, physicians, and laboratory teams to support timely diagnostic testing and high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Blood Collection techniques, including safe venipuncture and capillary draws, with a strong focus on patient comfort and safety.
  • Solid Laboratory Skills for specimen handling, processing, labeling, and basic quality assurance procedures.
  • Working knowledge of Medical Terminology and Medicine relevant to phlebotomy, including understanding test orders and clinical documentation.
  • Experience or training in Medical Assisting tasks related to patient preparation, vital signs, and coordination with clinical staff is preferred.
  • Current certification in phlebotomy (e.g., CPT or equivalent) from a recognized certifying body; state-required credentials if applicable.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an accredited phlebotomy or clinical laboratory program strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, accurate data entry, and adherence to infection control and safety protocols.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented hospital environment, including variable shifts as needed.
