Sr. Manager, Venue Infrastructure Delivery

The VNI (Venue Infrastructure) team plays a critical role in delivering competition and non-competition venues that are functional, innovative, and accessible for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. As part of the larger Sport Games Delivery group, the VNI team ensures that all venues are designed and developed with the highest standards for functionality, sustainability, and inclusion.

As Sr. Manager of Venue Infrastructure Delivery, the role leads the end-to-end design, build, and delivery of a key Games-time venue. You will manage a team of 3–4 staff members alongside external partners and contractors. Initially, you will coordinate with internal teams, external partners, and consultants to finalize Olympic and Paralympic venue designs. You will then transition to leading on-site execution, construction, and delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership

Hire, train, motivate, and evaluate department staff

Directly supervise sub-functions including design teams

Develop and adhere to departmental budget with clear steps to implement, monitor, and appropriately measure deliverables

Design Development

Assist in the delivery of the design development strategy and process for one of the Games Time Venues

Support the integration of internal stakeholders with external delivery partners, including architecture, engineering and other departmental resources to ensure a coordinated process

Facilitate approvals and review process for all internal and external stakeholders involved in establishing venue technical requirements for Games infrastructure

Ensure a robust, data-driven approach to venue design and delivery

Provide design support for required venues to deliver fit-for-purpose and cost-effective solutions

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Establish close working relationships with key functional areas (especially Event Management, Hospitality Ticketing, Games Operations, etc.) to ensure the venue design development process aligns with cross-functional planning timelines and objectives

Work with the IOC and IPC to understand all requirements, get strategic buy-in, and expedite approval processes where necessary

Closely align with the Infrastructure Program Management Sub-function to ensure coordinated planning for all venue design and delivery milestones and deliverables including procurement and cost

Problem solve and negotiate with stakeholders to get the best outcomes

Background Requirements:

Minimum 7-years of relevant industry in event overlay design and temporary infrastructure delivery. Preferred working knowledge of California Building Code requirements

Previous experience in event operations, logistics, hospitality, or a related field preferred

Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Sports Management, Construction Management, Event Management, or related field or equivalent work experience strongly preferred

Expectations:

Willingness to occasionally visit venues and work on-site as needed.

Familiarity with temporary infrastructure projects

Experience working with a diverse range of stakeholders and proven success at building excellent working relationships

Experience working with senior executives across multiple functional areas

Excellent leadership skills with track record of people development and revenue achievement

Extremely detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills

Strong communication, team building, and interpersonal skills

Well-developed problem-solving skills and ability to work independently to resolve issues

Fluent working with Office suite products including Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

Self-starter with experience in defining tasks, seeking feedback, and evolving work where applicable
