About the Role:

The Staff Accountant for Made in Oregon plays a critical role in maintaining the financial integrity and accuracy of the retail organization’s accounting records. This position is responsible for preparing and analyzing financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting principles, and supporting month-end and year-end close processes. The Staff Accountant will manage bank reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger activities to provide accurate financial data for decision-making. By performing detailed account reconciliations and job costing, this role helps identify discrepancies and supports operational efficiency. Ultimately, the Staff Accountant contributes to the overall financial health of the company by ensuring timely and precise accounting operations within the retail trade environment.

This is a On-Site Part-Time Position (1-2) days a week

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in bank reconciliation and general ledger accounting.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in preparing journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Experience with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the retail trade industry or a similar fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with job costing and inventory accounting processes.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems commonly used in retail accounting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of cash balances.
  • Prepare and post journal entries related to various accounting transactions.
  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger accounts, including balance sheet accounts.
  • Analyze account activity and investigate discrepancies to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes by preparing necessary schedules and documentation.
  • Assist with job costing and inventory accounting to track retail operations expenses.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather financial data and support audits.
  • Ensure compliance with established accounting principles and company policies.
