Position Overview

Farrell Brothers Marine Construction is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join our growing team. This position is responsible for operating a variety of heavy equipment used in marine and waterfront construction projects.

The ideal candidate has experience operating excavators, loaders, skid steers, and other construction equipment safely and efficiently. Marine construction experience is a plus, but we are willing to consider highly skilled operators from other construction sectors who are eager to learn.

This is a hands-on role that requires attention to detail, strong safety awareness, and the ability to work alongside field crews to complete projects on schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate excavators, skid steers, wheel loaders, and other heavy equipment
  • Perform excavation, grading, material handling, and site preparation activities
  • Assist with seawall, bulkhead, dock, and marine construction projects
  • Load, unload, and transport materials as needed
  • Conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance concerns
  • Maintain equipment in clean and operational condition
  • Follow all company safety policies and jobsite procedures
  • Work closely with foremen, project managers, and field crews
  • Assist with labor tasks when equipment operation is not required
  • Help maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites

Requirements

  • Experience operating excavators and skid steers
  • Ability to safely work around personnel, utilities, structures, and waterfront environments
  • Strong understanding of equipment safety and maintenance
  • Ability to read grade stakes, site layouts, and project plans is a plus
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds when necessary
  • Reliable transportation
  • Valid driver's license
  • Strong work ethic and dependable attendance
  • Authorized to work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications

  • Marine construction experience
  • Experience operating equipment around waterways and waterfront structures
  • OSHA certification
  • Experience with pile driving or marine-specific equipment
